Dear friends,
yes, I know, I have been lazy with newsletters. This is partly because
I am now on Twitter now where I give all my incredible wisDOM away
piecemeal almost every day. So no new gags I am afraid.
Anyway, welcome to the new website. Even with my glasses I couldn't
read the script the way it was. The black and red was giving me a
headache and looking a bit goth. But I still think it reflected my
mood when we put "Fourth Wall" out in 2006. I am really happy with the
new look which reflects my current mood and the feel of my new album
out soon. I want to thank Dave and Wendy putting it together and
running this website which I am incredibly happy with. I know many
people who really like it and find it easy to use. This means a lot to
me.
The new album "November" is a real departure from what I have been
doing up until now. A good friend of this website came up to me at
Ronnie Scott's having heard a track from the new album and said "It
doesn't have your signature". When I released "First Touch" EVERYONE
said exactly the same thing. As an artist I see this as a compliment
because it shows me I am moving forward. It also proves no-one really
knows me. This is probably why I don't sell shit loads of records.
Interestingly enough though, of all people, Sting recently said the
new album has my signature. Now I am confused. The way I see it, I am
just using different "brushes". Some people can hear that and some
can't. Vive la difference!
It's going to be an interesting and busy year. I have many exciting
plans. I'll be playing dates with Sting later this Spring and I am
doing some solo dates this spring which I am really excited about. I
will continue working with Sarah Jane Morris, Avitall, Lars Danielsson,
Yaron Herman, Alejandro Lerner, a wonderful singer from Lebanon named
Yasmine Hamdan and a few others.
My new album is due for release in early March.
Please check in here regularly as there will be lots happening this
year. I really hope I see some of you along the way.
